וצליאת חנה ברוח נבואה ואמרת כבר שמואל ברי עתיד למהוי נביא על ישראל ביומוהי יתפרקון מידא דפלשתאי ועל ידוהי יתעבדן להון נסין וגבורן בכן תקוף לבי בחולקא דיהב לי יי ואף הימן בר יואל בר ברי שמואל עתיד דיקום הוא וארבעת עשר בנוהי למהוי אמרין בשירה על ידי נבלין וכנורין עם אחיהון ליואי לשבחא בבית מקדשא בכן רמת קרני במתנתא דמני לי יי ואף על פורענות נסא דעתיד למהוי בפלשתאי דעתידין דייתון ית ארונא דיי בעגלתא חדתא ועמיה קורבן אשמא בכן תימר כנשתא דישראל אפתח פומי למללא רברבן על בעלי דבבי ארי חדיתי בפורקנך:

Hannah prayed, and said, “My heart exults in Yahweh! My horn is exalted in Yahweh. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.

על סנחריב מלכא דאתוב אתנביאת ואמרת עתיד דיקום הוא וכל חילותיה על ירושלם ונס סגי יתעביד ביה תמן יפלון פגרי משריתיה בכן יודון כל עממיא אומיא ולשניא ויימרון לית דקדיש אלא יי ארי לית בר מנך ועמך יימרון לית תקיף אלא אלהנא:
alhna ala thqyp lyth yymrwn wemk mnk br lyth ary yy ala dqdysh lyth wyymrwn wlshnya awmya emmya kl ywdwn bkn mshrythyh pgry yplwn thmn byh ythebyd sgy wns yrwshlm el khylwthyh wkl hwa dyqwm ethyd wamrth athnbyath dathwb mlka snkhryb el
There is no one as holy as Yahweh, for there is no one besides you, nor is there any rock like our God.

על נבוכדנצר מלכא דבבל אתנביאת ואמרת אתון כסדאי וכל עממיא דעתידין למשלט בישראל לא תסגון למללא רברבן לא יפקון גידופין מפומכון ארי אלהא ידע כולא ועל כל עובדוהי מתיח דיניה אף לכון עתיד לשלמא פורענות חוביכון:
khwbykwn pwrenwth lshlma ethyd lkwn ap dynyh mthykh ewbdwhy kl wel kwla yde alha ary mpwmkwn gydwpyn ypqwn la rbrbn lmlla thsgwn la byshral lmshlT dethydyn emmya wkl ksday athwn wamrth athnbyath dbbl mlka nbwkdntsr el
“Don’t keep talking so exceedingly proudly. Don’t let arrogance come out of your mouth, for Yahweh is a God of knowledge. By him actions are weighed.

על מלכות מקדון אתנביאת ואמרת קשתת דגברי מקדונאי יתברין ודבית חשמונאי דהוו חלשין יתעבדן להון נסין וגבורן:
wgbwrn nsyn lhwn ythebdn khlshyn dhww khshmwnay wdbyth ythbryn mqdwnay dgbry qshthth wamrth athnbyath mqdwn mlkwth el
“The bows of the mighty men are broken. Those who stumbled are armed with strength.

על בנוהי דהמן אתנביאת ואמרת דהוו שבעין בלחמא וגאן בעותרא וסגיאין בממונא אתמסכנו תבו לאתגרא בלחם ומזון פומהון מרדכי ואסתר דהוו חשיכין ומסכנין עתרו ואיתנשיאו ית מסכנותהון תבו למהוי בני חורין כן ירושלם דהות כאתתא עקרא עתידא דתתמלי מעם גלותהא ורומי דמליא סגי עממיא יסופון משריתהא תצדי ותיחרוב:
wthykhrwb thtsdy mshrythha yswpwn emmya sgy dmlya wrwmy glwthha mem dththmly ethyda eqra kaththa dhwth yrwshlm kn khwryn bny lmhwy thbw msknwthhwn yth waythnshyaw ethrw wmsknyn khshykyn dhww wasthr mrdky pwmhwn wmzwn blkhm lathgra thbw athmsknw bmmwna wsgyayn bewthra wgan blkhma shbeyn dhww wamrth athnbyath dhmn bnwhy el
Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread. Those who were hungry are satisfied. Yes, the barren has borne seven. She who has many children languishes.

כל אלין גבורתא דיי דהוא שליט בעלמא ממית ואמר לאחאה ומחית לשאול ואף עתיד לאסקא בחיי עלמא:
elma bkhyy lasqa ethyd wap lshawl wmkhyth lakhah wamr mmyth belma shlyT dhwa dyy gbwrtha alyn kl
“Yahweh kills and makes alive. He brings down to Sheol and brings up.

יי ממסכין ומעתיר משפיל אף מרים:
mrym ap mshpyl wmethyr mmskyn yy
Yahweh makes poor and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up.

מקים מעפרא מסכינא מקלקלתא מרים חשיכא לאותבותהון עם צדיקיא רברבי עלמא וכורסי יקרא מחסין להון ארי קדם יי גלן עובדי בני אנשא מלרע אתקין גהנם לרשיעיא עברי על מימריה וצדיקיא עבדי רעותיה שכליל להון תבל:
thbl lhwn shklyl rewthyh ebdy wtsdyqya mymryh el ebry lrshyeya ghnm athqyn mlre ansha bny ewbdy gln yy qdm ary lhwn mkhsyn yqra wkwrsy elma rbrby tsdyqya em lawthbwthhwn khshyka mrym mqlqltha mskyna mepra mqym
He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill to make them sit with princes and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are Yahweh’s. He has set the world on them.

וגוית עבדוהי צדיקיא יטר מגהנם ורשיעיא בגהנם בחשוכא יתדנון להודעא ארי לא מן דאית ביה חילא זכי ליום דינא:
dyna lywm zky khyla byh dayth mn la ary lhwdea ythdnwn bkhshwka bghnm wrshyeya mghnm yTr tsdyqya ebdwhy wgwyth
He will keep the feet of his holy ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness; for no man will prevail by strength.

יי יתבר בעלי דבבא דקימין לאבאשא לעמיה עליהון מן שמיא בקל רם ישקיף יי יעביד פורענות מן מגוג וממשרית עממין חטופין דאתן עמיה מסיפי ארעא ויתן תוקפא למלכיה וירבי מלכות משיחיה:
mshykhyh mlkwth wyrby lmlkyh thwqpa wythn area msypy emyh dathn khTwpyn emmyn wmmshryth mgwg mn pwrenwth yebyd yy yshqyp rm bql shmya mn elyhwn lemyh labasha dqymyn dbba bely ythbr yy
Those who strive with Yahweh shall be broken to pieces. He will thunder against them in the sky. “Yahweh will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.”

ואזל אלקנה לרמתא לביתיה ורביא הוה משמש קדם יי בחיי עלי כהנא:
khna ely bkhyy yy qdm mshmsh hwh wrbya lbythyh lrmtha alqnh wazl
Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. The child served Yahweh before Eli the priest.

ובני עלי גברין רשעיא לא הוו ידעין למדחל קדם יי:
yy qdm lmdkhl ydeyn hww la rsheya gbryn ely wbny
Now the sons of Eli were wicked men. They didn’t know Yahweh.

ונימוסא דכהניא מן עמא כל גבר דנכיס נכסתא ואתי עולימא דכהנא כמבשל בסרא ומשיליא די ליה תלת שנין בידיה:
bydyh shnyn thlth lyh dy wmshylya bsra kmbshl dkhna ewlyma wathy nkstha dnkys gbr kl ema mn dkhnya wnymwsa
The custom of the priests with the people was that when anyone offered a sacrifice, the priest’s servant came while the meat was boiling, with a fork of three teeth in his hand;

וקבע ליה בכיורא או בדודא או בקדירא או במליסא כל דמסיק משליא נסיב כהנא לנפשיה כדין עבדין לכל ישראל דאתן לדבחא תמן בשלה:
bshlh thmn ldbkha dathn yshral lkl ebdyn kdyn lnpshyh khna nsyb mshlya dmsyq kl bmlysa aw bqdyra aw bdwda aw bkywra lyh wqbe
and he stabbed it into the pan, or kettle, or cauldron, or pot. The priest took all that the fork brought up for himself. They did this to all the Israelites who came there to Shiloh.

אף עד דלא יתסקון ית תרבא למדבחא ויתי עולימא דכהנא ואמר לגברא דדבח הב בסרא למטוי לכהנא ולא יסב מנך בשר מבשל אלהן כד חי:
khy kd alhn mbshl bshr mnk ysb wla lkhna lmTwy bsra hb ddbkh lgbra wamr dkhna ewlyma wythy lmdbkha thrba yth ythsqwn dla ed ap
Yes, before they burned the fat, the priest’s servant came, and said to the man who sacrificed, “Give meat to roast for the priest; for he will not accept boiled meat from you, but raw.”

ואמר ליה גברא אוריך עד דיתסקון תרביא וסב לך כמא דרעוא נפשך ואמר ליה ארי כען תתן ואם לא יסבון מנך בעל כורחך:
kwrkhk bel mnk ysbwn la wam ththn ken ary lyh wamr npshk drewa kma lk wsb thrbya dythsqwn ed awryk gbra lyh wamr
If the man said to him, “Let the fat be burned first, and then take as much as your soul desires;” then he would say, “No, but you shall give it to me now; and if not, I will take it by force.”

והות חוב עולמיא סגי לחדא קדם יי ארי בזו גבריא ית קורבניא דיי:
dyy qwrbnya yth gbrya bzw ary yy qdm lkhda sgy ewlmya khwb whwth
The sin of the young men was very great before Yahweh; for the men despised Yahweh’s offering.

ושמואל משמש קדם יי עולימא אסיר כרדוט דבוץ:
dbwts krdwT asyr ewlyma yy qdm mshmsh wshmwal
But Samuel ministered before Yahweh, being a child, clothed with a linen ephod.
19
ומעיל זעיר עבדא ליה אמיה ומסקא ליה מזמן מועד למועד במסקה עם בעלה לדבחא ית דבח מועדיא:
mwedya dbkh yth ldbkha belh em bmsqh lmwed mwed mzmn lyh wmsqa amyh lyh ebda zeyr wmeyl
Moreover his mother made him a little robe, and brought it to him from year to year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

ובריך עלי ית אלקנה וית אתתיה ואמר יקיים יי לך בנין כשרין מן אתתא הדא חלף שאלתא דשאל קדם יי ואזלו לאתריהון:
lathryhwn wazlw yy qdm dshal shaltha khlp hda aththa mn kshryn bnyn lk yy yqyym wamr aththyh wyth alqnh yth ely wbryk
Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, “May Yahweh give you offspring from this woman for the petition which was asked of Yahweh.” Then they went to their own home.

ארי על דכרנא דחנה קדם יי ועדיאת וילידת תלתא בנין ותרתין בנן ורבא רביא שמואל משמש קדם יי:
yy qdm mshmsh shmwal rbya wrba bnn wthrthyn bnyn thltha wylydth wedyath yy qdm dkhnh dkrna el ary
Yahweh visited Hannah, and she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. The child Samuel grew before Yahweh.

ועלי סיב לחדא ושמע ית כל דעבדין בנוהי לכל ישראל וית די שכבין ית נשיא דאתין לצלאה בתרע משכן זמנא:
zmna mshkn bthre ltslah dathyn nshya yth shkbyn dy wyth yshral lkl bnwhy debdyn kl yth wshme lkhda syb wely
Now Eli was very old; and he heard all that his sons did to all Israel, and how that they slept with the women who served at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

ואמר להון למא תעבדון כפתגמיא האלין די אנא שמע ית פתגמיכון בישין מן כל עמא אלין:
alyn ema kl mn byshyn pthgmykwn yth shme ana dy halyn kpthgmya thebdwn lma lhwn wamr
He said to them, “Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all these people.

לא בני ארי לא תקנא שמועתא די אנא שמע דרננין עמא דיי:
dyy ema drnnyn shme ana dy shmwetha thqna la ary bny la
No, my sons; for it is not a good report that I hear! You make Yahweh’s people disobey.
25
אם יחוב גבר לגבר הלא ייתון לקדם דינא וישמע מליהון ויפלי ביניהון ואם קדם יי ייחוב גברא ממן יבעי וישתביק ליה ולא קבילו למימר אבוהון ארי רעוא קדם יי לקטלותהון:
lqTlwthhwn yy qdm rewa ary abwhwn lmymr qbylw wla lyh wyshthbyq ybey mmn gbra yykhwb yy qdm wam bynyhwn wyply mlyhwn wyshme dyna lqdm yythwn hla lgbr gbr ykhwb am
If one man sins against another, God will judge him; but if a man sins against Yahweh, who will intercede for him?” Notwithstanding, they didn’t listen to the voice of their father, because Yahweh intended to kill them.

ורביא שמואל אזיל וסגי ושמיה טב ותקנן אורחתיה קדם יי ותריצין עובדוהי בגו בני אנשא:
ansha bny bgw ewbdwhy wthrytsyn yy qdm awrkhthyh wthqnn Tb wshmyh wsgy azyl shmwal wrbya
The child Samuel grew on, and increased in favor both with Yahweh and also with men.

ואתא נביא דיי לות עלי ואמר ליה כדנן אמר יי אתגלאה אתגליתי לבית אבוך כד הוו במצרים ומשעבדין לבית פרעה:
preh lbyth wmshebdyn bmtsrym hww kd abwk lbyth athglythy athglah yy amr kdnn lyh wamr ely lwth dyy nbya watha
A man of God came to Eli and said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Did I reveal myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt in bondage to Pharaoh’s house?

ואתרעיתי ביה מכל שבטיא דישראל קדמי למהוי כהין לאסקא קורבנא על מדבחי לאקטרא קטורת בוסמין למלבש אפוד לשמשא קדמי ויהבית לבית אבוך ית כל קורבניא דבני ישראל:
yshral dbny qwrbnya kl yth abwk lbyth wyhbyth qdmy lshmsha apwd lmlbsh bwsmyn qTwrth laqTra mdbkhy el qwrbna lasqa khyn lmhwy qdmy dyshral shbTya mkl byh wathreythy
Didn’t I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? Didn’t I give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire?
29
למא אתון אנסין בנכסת קודשיא ובקורבני דפקדית לקרבא קדמי בבית מקדשי ויקרת ית בנך קדמיתא לאוכלותהון מריש כל קורבן מנחת ישראל דעמי:
demy yshral mnkhth qwrbn kl mrysh lawklwthhwn qdmytha bnk yth wyqrth mqdshy bbyth qdmy lqrba dpqdyth wbqwrbny qwdshya bnksth ansyn athwn lma
Why do you kick at my sacrifice and at my offering, which I have commanded in my habitation, and honor your sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel my people?’

בכן אמר יי אלהא דישראל מימר אמרית ביתך ובית אבוך ישמשון קדמי עד עלמא וכען אמר יי קושטא אינון דיני ארי לדמיקרין קדמי איקר ודמבסרין על שמי יתשטון:
ythshTwn shmy el wdmbsryn ayqr qdmy ldmyqryn ary dyny aynwn qwshTa yy amr wken elma ed qdmy yshmshwn abwk wbyth bythk amryth mymr dyshral alha yy amr bkn
“Therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father should walk before me forever.’ But now Yahweh says, ‘Far be it from me; for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me will be cursed.
31
הא יומיא אתאן ואקטוף ית תקוף דרעך וית תקוף דרע בית אבוך מלמהוי סיב בביתך:
bbythk syb mlmhwy abwk byth dre thqwp wyth drek thqwp yth waqTwp athan ywmya ha
Behold, the days come that I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father’s house, that there will not be an old man in your house.

ותהי מתתכל ותהי חזי בעקתא דתיתי על אנש ביתך בחובין דחבתון קדמי בבית מקדשי ובתר כן אייתי טבתא על ישראל ולא יהי סיב בביתך כל יומיא:
ywmya kl bbythk syb yhy wla yshral el Tbtha ayythy kn wbthr mqdshy bbyth qdmy dkhbthwn bkhwbyn bythk ansh el dthythy beqtha khzy wthhy mththkl wthhy
You will see the affliction of my habitation, in all the wealth which I will give Israel. There shall not be an old man in your house forever.
33
ואנש לא אפסיק לך מן מדבחי לחשכא ית עינך ולאפחא ית נפשך וכל סגיות ביתך ימותון עולימין:
ewlymyn ymwthwn bythk sgywth wkl npshk yth wlapkha eynk yth lkhshka mdbkhy mn lk apsyq la wansh
The man of yours whom I don’t cut off from my altar will consume your eyes and grieve your heart. All the increase of your house will die in the flower of their age.
34
ודין לך אתא דתיתי לות תרין בנך לות חפני ופנחס ביומא חד יתקטלון תרויהון:
thrwyhwn ythqTlwn khd bywma wpnkhs khpny lwth bnk thryn lwth dthythy atha lk wdyn
This will be the sign to you that will come on your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they will both die.
35
ואקים קדמי כהין מהימן דכמימרי וכרעותי יעבד ואקים ליה מלכו קימא וישמש קדם משיחי כל יומיא:
ywmya kl mshykhy qdm wyshmsh qyma mlkw lyh waqym yebd wkrewthy dkmymry mhymn khyn qdmy waqym
I will raise up a faithful priest for myself who will do according to that which is in my heart and in my mind. I will build him a sure house. He will walk before my anointed forever.

ויהי כל דישתאר בביתך ייתי לאשתפלא ליה למעא דכסף ופתא דלחמא ויימר מניני כען לחדא ממטרת כהניא למיכל פתא דלחמא:
dlkhma ptha lmykl khnya mmTrth lkhda ken mnyny wyymr dlkhma wptha dksp lmea lyh lashthpla yythy bbythk dyshthar kl wyhy
It will happen that everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread, and will say, “Please put me into one of the priests’ offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.”’”
